Te Waka Huia

Te Waka Huia are one of New Zealand’s premiere kapa haka.  Since inception in 1981, Te Waka Huia have won four national titles at the Te Matatini biennial festival and have come runners up to various teams on seven occasions.  Often invited to represent New Zealand at international events, Te Waka Huia performed at the Seoul Olympics in 1988, the Victoria Commonwealth Games in Victoria 1994, the Venice Biennale in 2009 and the South Pacific Arts Festival, Townsville 1988, and Cook Islands in 1992, and most recently the Shanghai World Trade Expo in 2010.  It is our pleasure to share aspects of our Maori culture with you, so sit back, relax and enjoy your half hour experience with Te Waka Huia.
